How Dr. Mathew Achigbe, APC C'River factional chairman died

Dr. Mathew Achigbe, the factional State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State, is reported to have died with others in a ghastly auto crash today along Afikpo road in Ebonyi state.

He was said going to his home country in Obubra for a meeting when the sad incident happened.

Trouble in APC, as Gov. Ayade receives over 3000 defectors back to PDP

CALABAR  The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State has Friday received more disciples as over three thousand (3,000) members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Obubra local government area burned  their brooms and decamped to the PDP.

The massive defection was accompanied with the APC members rejecting their brooms and taking refuge under the umbrella in Ababene Ward on Friday, November 9, 2018.

The Decampees, headed by Hon. Monday Egbe said they thought the land was greener at the other side, only to get there and observed that it was even more greenest from where they left - in that retrospect, they have to return to where they've been enjoying greener pasture. 

Hon. Egbe said that PDP made him who he is today and that APC is mourning, so he decided to come back to light after having dwell in darkness and confusion for a period of time. 

Egbe, a former sport supervisor in the LGA said he could no longer pay his children school fees and that poverty is hitting harder and harder. 

His words, "PDP made me who I am today. When in PDP, I was able to pay my children's school fees on time, build my home and I was very relevant, but when I moved to the APC, everything went into shambles. 

"APC as a party is mourning and many are ashame to come out - let us visit them and bring them out to save their lives". 

Monday Egbe said his decision of returning to the party was solidified by Hon. Peter Egba, the state's Commissioner for Commerce and Industry who assured him of the party's support. 

"When I confided with the Commissioner that I want to return home, he assured me of total support. Then I realised that when you're in PDP, you have no power to fear and I am grateful to that", he said. 

He added that, "Coming back to the party is because of what PDP has done; their achievements, projects, programmes and lots more. For these reasons, we'll give PDP the greatest support we've ever given to anyone". 

Speaking earlier and welcoming the Decampees, the state governor, Sen. Ben Ayade, ably represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Peter Egba, said the party's warm hands are always ready to receive anyone who wants to come in. 

He said, "We welcome you back with all your supporters and as usual, you'll be part of us without any form of discrimination." 

He added that, "APC is a confused party without direction and such a party cannot lead us to anywhere. Everything we are enjoying today, be it roads, water, electricity, were given to us by the PDP. 

"PDP is the light, sunshine and progress. We have one candidate for Governor, President, Senate, House of Representatives and other elective positions," he said. 

On his part, Hon. Denis Egor, PDP Local Government chairman in Obubra said, "as a leader of the party in the LGA, this occasion will usher us into 2019 and you are very welcome. 

"PDP has a symbol of umbrella and it is very large to harbour everyone. I will also ensure that in 2019, PDP will deliver in Ababene," he said. 

Receiving the decampees, the Ababene ward chairman of the PDP, Mr. Ayo Abeng, said, "We are welcoming you all as full members and I have sincerely receive you as you return. 

"I am charging you to live up to expectations and make sure you are loyal to the party as well as contribute to its growth. Anybody that is willing to return, we will welcome you with our open hands."

The Decampees were given membership cards as they were registered as full members on that same day.

Former House of Rep Aspirant Wofai Ewa Resigns From APC, says party not aligned with manifesto

A former aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Abi/Yakurr Federal constituency seat, Engr. Wofai Ewa has resigned from the APC, sighting the inability of the APC to follow through with its manifestoe.

In a letter addressed to the ward chairman of Ikpakapit Ward and seen by our correspondent, wofai held that he joined the party because of its promise to provide Nigerians with true democracy and fight corruption but that has not been the case.

The letter reads in part; I write to convey, first my deepest gratitude for the opportunity given to me to aspire under the All Progressive Congress (APC) platform, and secondly, my sadness at having to resign my membership of the APC."

The letter further reads, "I joined the APC in the belief that we could offer Nigeria a better alternative, and most importantly an opportunity to enjoy true democracy through the various elements of the APC manifestoe, which endeared me to the party, along with Mr. President resolve to confront the status-quo, laden with corruption and misgovernace. Sadly, this has not quite been the case."

Wofai therefore states that "for these reasons and a few more which I may have personally communicated to you directly, I have decided to exit the party and further the aspirations of my people via a more stable and promising platform, with a single
united and forward leadership."
