Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State have approved the appointment of 36 former Chairmen of Local Government Council and their deputies as Director Generals (DG's) of Government Agencies. The appointees who are yet to be desigignated portfolios have been asked to resume duty as the appointment is said take immediate effect.
The appointment of the 36 new DG's is said to be have generated a lo of friction among senior civil servants whose promotions were abruptly suspended because, according to Ayade, government cannot bear additional financial encumbrances.
A source from government house disclosed that the list has been forwarded to the SSG, and that the appointees have since commenced documentation and clearance.
Further disclosure has it that the former Chairman of Yakurr LGA, Mr Ikpi Ikpi Akusen is the DG Chieftaincy Affairs.
