Unconfirmed report reaching TDN has it that Governor Ben Ayade is still bent on unveiling the state's new Red Bull logo today 27th May as part of activities to celebrate the Cross River @50.
Recall that last week when the logo was released on social media Cross Riverians vehemently opposed and criticized the idea of unveiling a new logo for the state. This made the governor to suspend the unveiling event.
The commissioner for Information had addressed a press conference informing news men that the logo won't be launched again as cross riverians are opposed to the idea of a new logo.
She went further to say that the new logo was initially designed for the Cross River@50 Celebration and not to replace the Destination Cross River logo.
But it is now allegedly reported that the Cross River @50 logo will now replace the Destination Cross River Logo.
According to Mr. Princewill Odidi, a social commentator and economist. He wrote on his Facebook wall that:
"The logo was scheduled to be unveiled at the Calabar International Convention Center (CICC) in the evening after an interaction with traditional rulers slated for 1:00 PM and a football match at the U.J Esuene stadium slated for 3:00 PM. on Wednesday"
"...Also, the football match did not hold neither did the unveiling of the logo which has drawn so much criticism with the planning committee yet to issue a statement concerning the failure of the events to hold.
But, the committee had denied knowledge about the logo with the Commissioner for Information, Rosemary Archibong telling journalists that the committee had earlier thought of a logo to commemorate the state at 50 but did away with it later on.
Yet, it was still mentioned by the Chairman of the committee, Colonel PAM Ogar (rtd) as part of the itinerary."
As Cross Riverians and residents of the State come out today to celebrate the jubilee of the state one question will certainly be asked. Do Sen. Ben Ayade's government keep to its Word?
