A former Cross River state security adviser and Managing Director of earth Summit Ltd. on Monday escaped an assassination attempt on his life.
Ntufam Dr. Young Eta who is the Elder brother of Ntufam Hilliard Eta, National Vice Chairman South South of the APC, is also the Managing Director of Earth Summit Ltd, a prominent security outfit in the state.
Narrating the story yesterday, Dr. Eta said it was at about 2am on Monday when he was already in bed, he heard an unusually loud bang on one of his back doors and as he went out to check, he saw two gun-wielding men who pretended to be Policemen and struggled to make their way into his residence.
He said his resistance caused them to use force upon which he took off through the other backdoor in the kitchen.
''My wife was not lucky. They kept her to mention my whereabouts from that time till about 3.20am when they left.'' He said.
According to him,' 'the hoodlums did not cart away any valuable but insisted on getting me'' an indication that they were on a mission to kill him. He has since reported the incidence to the police.
The former State Security Adviser who is now a traditional ruler advised on vigilance as a major approach to defeating insecurity said it was still a puzzle why he will be a target of the criminals since he was not into politics nor be involved in any form of controversy with anyone.
