According to a letter dated 6th
June issued from the National secretariat of labour party in Abuja, the National
Chairman, Alhaji A.A. Salam (Baraden Piako) has directed the State acting
Chairman Mr. Baron Eyo to stop Parading himself as the state chairman stating
that though he was verbally appointed to act in that capacity. An act which the
national chairman said it was null and void. And that it was also discovered
that he is not financial member which he said contradicts article 10(2) and
Article 10(3) of the party’s constitution.
In a related development,
another letter was released by the National chairman appointing Elder Maurice
Bassey Ekeng as the substantial chairman
of the party in the state.
Mr. Baron was warned to desist from parading himself as the state chairman or stands the risk of been sued for impersonation.
He was also directed to hand over all
party documents and propereties in his possession to Elder Maurice Bassey Ekeng,
the new state Chairman.
Elder Bassey who has since
resumed as the state chairman was mandated by the letter confirming his appointment
to commence the process of coordinating the affairs of and also revitalize the
party, he was also saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing both old and
new members and bringing in serious minded politicians, prominent people,
Nigerian Workers of Like Minds and ideologies etc.
