In the
84 years of my existence in this village we have
never had anyone cross this river with drugs and all what you have brought to
see us. We are most times forgotten. - Chief
Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency
in collaboration with Vital Signs the facilitators of Ayadecare Home Health
Services for rural communities last weekend extended its free health outreach
and Home care services to Eniong Abatim Community in Odukpani Local Government
Area of Cross River State.
The outreach which was supported By Chief Asuquo
Ekpeyong, provided free basic medical check up such as Blood Pressure, Malaria
test and free medical consultations, Vitamin A supplementation to children and
health talk was graced by Director General of Cross River State Primary
Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, Director General Bureau of Public
Private Partnership ,Mr Udiba Effiong Udiba and CEO of Vital Signs, Dr
Genevieve Barnaby.
Speaking, Dr Betta Edu said the outreach was packaged to
enlighten the community about various health challenges in the State and the
ways to curb them. It was to sensitize them on how to prevent monkey pox, wash
their hands and protect themselves from diseases.
She said the outreach is also targeted to mostly indigent
women and children with priority to elderly persons.
According to her Eniong Abatim people are in dire need of
medical care, stressing that due to lack of easy accessibility to the community
through land it has been difficult for the community to benefit from the Ayade
Care Health Package before now.
She noted that with the introduction of Ayadecare "
State Health Insurance Scheme" the community and other Hard to Reach
communities in Cross River State will be provided with uninterrupted quality
healthcare services for almost free.
Dr Edu advised them against the use of mosquito net for
farming and other agricultural purposes which she said was harmful and
dangerous to the health. Over 500 long lasting insecticide nets was distributed
at enyon abatim.l
Also Speaking, DG BPPP, Mr Udiba Effiong who is an
indigene of the community said more of such intervention in Eniong Abatim will
be coming as healthcare of the people remain one cardinal priority of the
Governor, His Excellency, Senator ( Prof) Ben Ayade.
He charged the people of Eniong Abatim to continue
supporting the programs of the Governor.
Earlier Speaking, Dr Genevieve Barnaby said with the
emergence of Ayadecare in Cross River State, Home Health Care services to vulnerable
people in the rural communities forms part of the reasons they came to
Odukpani.
She call on the community to take advantage of the
outreach by mobilizing more people for the medical check up and other
consultations.
Long lasting
insecticide treated nets were also distributed to mothers and children with
free drugs.
