Governor Ayade has concluded plans to privatize water
board to Lileker (a company jointly owned by Senator Geshom Bassey and Senator
Liyel Imoke) as a guarantee for a second term ticket in the PDP.
Two weeks ago during the
NorthFest 2017, Governor Ayade held a meeting at the Ranch Resort with Liyel,
Gershom, Igile, Engr Etowa, and Ralston (MD Lileker) to seek endorsement for a
second term.
The privatization of water board to Lileker was the instrument
brought to the table by Ayade. The agreement has been accepted by Liyel and
others, saw Dr Igile, managing Director of Water Board writing to Lileker to
submit PPP proposal to water board for immediate approval.
Lileker has requested writing to water board the
following items for a smooth takeoff; list of all staff and their position throughout
the State, a copy of payroll for all staff, civil servant, casual staff, and
contract staff, copy of all pensions/commitment, copy of all litigation, any
money left with world bank, and or world bank state on loans to date, etc.
Cross Riverians in a town hall meeting recently organized
by water board were so shocked that Governor Ben Ayade is considering
privatizing water board.
It is sad that Cross Riverians are forced with the
option of accepting the decisions of a few persons like Governor Liyel Imoke.
Even inside the water board facility, all the lands
have been sold to friends, relations, and cronies of the governor. According to
information available to me, Prof Zana Akpagu also bought a piece of land at
the facility for 10 Million Naira. The information also revealed that
underground water pipes passed through most of pieces of land that has been
sold.
