The Chairman Governing Board of Niger Delta Development
Commission NDDC, former leader of the 7th Senate of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN will be among other
notable personalities that will be receiving the 2017 Distinguished Alumni
Awards in recognition of their contributions in national development and
advancement of the University of Lagos.
This event which is in commemoration of 55years anniversary of the
institution, is to hold on Friday, October 13th 2017 at the Oriental Hotel,
Victoria Island Lagos will parade an array of awardees like Dr John Abebe, Chairman
Nigeria Cricket Foundation, Dr Wale Babalakin, Pro Chancellor and Chairman of
Council UNILAG, Mr Mustapha Chike Obi, former Managing a Director AMCON, Hon.
Femi Gbajabiamila, Majority Leader House of Representatives,
Others include Mrs Winnifred Ekanem Oyo -Ita, Head of
Service of the Federation, Mr Godwin Obla a legal luminary, Mr Mutui Sunmonu
CON, former Managing Director of a Shell Petroleum Development Company SPDC,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr
Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister for Science and Technology and a host of others.
According to a release signed by
the SA Communications to the NDDC Chairman, Mrs Clara Braide, the event will be
chaired by Dr Wale Babalakin SAN, Pro- Chancellor and Chairman of Council, University
of Lagos and the Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo will serve as the
Special Guest of Honour.
Mr Udom Emmanuel Governor of Akwa
Ibom State, Mr Willie Obiano of Anambra State, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwombo
of Gombe State will be on hand to support the Chief Host and Governor of Lagos
State, Mr Akinwumi Ambode.
Senator Victor Ndoma Egba holds two
national honors, Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and Commander of the
Niger (CON), He was born in Ikom, Cross a River State on 8th March 1956. He had
a brief stint at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus before proceeding to
the University of Lagos where he obtained the LL.B (Honors) degree in 1977 and
was called to bar in 1978 making him a member of the famous "1978
set" the set with highest number of Supreme Court Justices and Senior
Advocates of Nigeria.
