Information reaching TDN has it that staff of the Obudu Ranch Resort through the National Union of Hotels and Personnel Service Workers (NUHPSW) has served a 7 day strike notice to the government of Cross River State.
In a letter to the Governor of Cross River State, his Excellency Sen. Prof Ben Ayade dated 30/11/17, and signed by Comrades Johnson Akon & Emmanuel Odey, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the Union listed the following as her grievances:
* Non-payment of salaries for four months in 2014
* Non-payment of leave allowances from 2014 to date
* Non-payment of salaries for five months in 2017
* Non-payment of Staff medical refunds from 2014 to date
* Non-payment of Staff Bonuses from 2014 to date
* Non-remittance of Union Check-off Dues amounting to N12m from 2008 till date
* Non-payment of Death / Retirement benefit from 2008 to date
* Non-remission of staff Pension deductions from April 2004 to January 2017
* Non-payment of salaries for four months in 2014
* Non-payment of leave allowances from 2014 to date
* Non-payment of salaries for five months in 2017
* Non-payment of Staff medical refunds from 2014 to date
* Non-payment of Staff Bonuses from 2014 to date
* Non-remittance of Union Check-off Dues amounting to N12m from 2008 till date
* Non-payment of Death / Retirement benefit from 2008 to date
* Non-remission of staff Pension deductions from April 2004 to January 2017
The Union claims that three earlier such notices sent earlier this year have not been attended to. The first was a 21-day notice sent on 1st May, 2017. The second, a 14-day notice sent on 22nd May, 2017; while the third was a 7-day notice sent on 6th June, 2017.
Efforts to reach the SA on Ranch Matters have been unsuccessful.
