Senator Gershom Bassey sponsors bill for establishment of Federal Polytechnic in Akpabuyo


 Akpabuyo Local Government Area  in the Southern Senatorial district of Cross River State will soon host a federal polytechnic  courtesy effective representation of Senator Gershom Bassey, the Senator representing the district in the Senate.

The Bill which has gone through its  First Reading on the floor of the Senate  is expected to be given expedited action on the floor soon after the Easter break by the Senate.
The Bill according to an aide of the Senator, George is in furtherance of Senator Gershom Bassey's commitment to the  industrial and academic development of the Southern Senatorial district, nay Cross River State as a whole.

"If you may recall, recently, Senator  Gershom Bassey called on National Content Development Management Board to employ youths in Odukpani during the construction of the multi- billion naira Oil and Gas Park located in the area".
He said the oil and gas work is basically technical and the polytechnic will breach the gap in the education of that cadre of workers and with the Senator Ben Ayade industrial drive, technical personnel to take charge of the industries  would  be invaluable

"Over 2000 direct jobs will be created from the Oil and Gas Park at Odukpani  which  our Senator dutifully attracted to be located in the area and those jobs should  be filled by a large number of people from the state so the need to have a Polytechnic in the state which will also train  workers for the Ayade Industrial Park which already has a good number of industries  functional"
