Unconfirmed rumours reaching our newsroom has it that Senator John Owan Enoh, Senator representing Central Senatorial District of Cross River State might likely not contest for the Governorship stool in Cross River State as opined by some of his aides and close cobber come 2019.
According to the report, the Senator might have lost close to a billion Naira to one of his media aides simply identified as Mr. Gaius Chibuzo who is said to have absconded with the huge sum of money sometime in December last year.
The report has it that the loss is so colossal that it had destabilised the senator's campaign structures. This could be reflected in his inability to hold an official public declaration ceremony where the senator is expected to douse the air as to what office he intends to run for come 2019.
Fillers has it that the proposed declaration event which has been canceled not less than two times this year is not unconnected with the paucity of funds to service the structure of a gubernatorial campaign.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the senator initially was still holding wide consultations across the state to see if he could attempt the gubernatorial race or return to the Senate and the odds seems to had favored the former, but recent happenings may see him making a 'U' turn to concentrate on his senatorial position.
Sen. Owan who is said to be one of the most favored politicians in Cross River State by the People's Democratic Party(PDP) led Government recently decamped to the Nationally ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) where he feels will give him a good stand to project his political ambitions.
Though there is uncertainty about the exact amount of money said to have been carted away by the aide. Some quarters have it that the exact figure is N950 million, while others said its about N800 million, but a close source to the Senator revealed that 'Owan-Enoh admits that he was duped of N70 million by his aide'.
However, another source close to the Senator has confirmed that there's an absconding of a certain amount by Gaius but not to the tune mentioned. It's said that investigations are on, and some family members have been contacted. The source said, 'it's Gaius...Oga sent him...he stole the money, but not up to the amount'.
Gaius who was the Senator's right-hand man as it pertains to ICT and media was last seen in December 2017 during the yuletide season the lawmaker organised for his constituents tagged: Cross River Central Christmas Fiesta, at Ikom.
NegroidHaven.org reveals that the "absconding Gaius is the man behind 'The Connector', an online facility for connecting individuals together online. Some of the social media handles that go by the name 'John Owan-Enoh, Sen John Owan Enoh', and the like were actually managed by Gaius.
