The speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gual Lebo has said that Nigeria is suffering from leaders without capacity to lead the nation and make Nigeria that great nation it was meant to be because of some provisions of her constitution.

The speaker made this alarming but bold statement while presenting a lecture at the first ever public lecture put together by the Senate of Post Graduate Students Government, University of Calabar, Calabar.

The law maker while speaking on the topic, The Future of Leadership and the Role of the Legislature, revealed that the provisions of the constitution allows for an ordinarily school cert holder to occupy even the highest office in the nation, according to him, that is why we have people who have not demonstrated any form of intellectual capacity in time past and in their private endeavors to be given opportunity to lead the nation and the resultant effect is what we are experiencing in Nigeria today.

‘ The basic constitutional requirement for anybody to contest for the seat of a councilor, Governor, house of assembly member, National assembly member and even the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria is an Ordinary School Cert. That is WASC’.

‘ So when our leaders fail, we shouldn’t blame them because it is the Constitution that has allowed incompetinent people who have not shown capacity to lead to be voted into office’He added.

Even in the Abrahamic era, leadership qualification was not school cert, because if you read through the Bible you will see the level of knowledge and intellect displayed there and you will surely know that those kings and rulers then could not have been ordinary school cert holders’.

Nigeria does not have the template for qualification for her leaders, therefore, all of us must become political evangelist that will lay emphasis on the right kind of leaders that will lead this country at all levels’.  The lawmaker advised.

The lawmaker who pivoted his lecture on three architectural models of leadership as propounded by Barack Obama said for Nigeria to be great again, she needs leaders who are a Future architect, Solution architect, as well as decision architect.

He further explained that these three architectural knowledge of leadership model will help leaders proffer tangent solutions to Nigeria’s teeming problems
