C'river Govt set to provide affordable Healthcare as it launches health insurance scheme- Ayadecare

The Cross River State Government has said that all is now set for Cross Riverians and residence of Cross River State to access quality and affordable healthcare  services as it launches the state's Health Insurance Scheme called Ayadecare 

This was made known to newsmen in a press briefing organized by the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency.  briefing newsmen yesterday, the SA Health Insurance, Mr. Godwin Iyala said all the necessary logistics and requirements needed for a smooth kick-off  on Monday 28th May 2018 have been put in place, he earlier appreciated the commitment of journalist towards the project for their constant calls and inquiries as they have done well in enlightening the masses about the scheme.

Describing the scheme the SA, said the scheme is a project that has been designed to put money in the hands of the citizen as Cross Riverians can now access good  health care at no cost as long as they have subscribed into the scheme with a token of N1000 per month for civil servants and N9000 a year for none Civil servants.

The briefing which afforded newsmen opportunity to ask questions concerning gray areas that needed clarifications revealed that Cross River state has gone ahead of the 14 states in Nigeria who have subscribed to the Health Insurance Scheme. While many are still struggling with passing the Health Insurance bill into law, the state had passed its own bill since 2016, 

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong said the Health Insurance started 3 years ago. According to her, "for Governor Ben Ayade, health insurance was the first thing in his mind when he was first elected into office. We have come a long way since September 2016 when the bill was passed into Law. We had support from partners, well-wishers, and political class".

Dr. Asibong also said the National Assembly, NASS Members will be registering over 1,000 constituents each during the launch.

 

About the readiness of PHCs, Dr. Edu said, "We are not using all the PHCs for a start. We are using few which has met the standards of providing quality healthcare services. Another innovation is ongoing which is a 72hrs revitalization of PHCs in Cross River State.

"We have reactivated the drug revolving funds for the AyadeCare and we hope Cross Riverians who registered for the scheme will have quality healthcare care", Edu said

Mr. Ibiam Agwu of USAID Health Finance and Governance (USAID-HFG) also opined that, "We work for about 14 states and many are still struggling. What we do is to support State with design elements, like benefits package, operational documents and more. We are not leaving the state because we are flagging off, but we are here to ensure it runs smoothly.
