Chief (Hon) Dr Alex Egbona, the Ezor Nkami 1 of Ekureku is a politician with a sense of humour & professionalism, who has carved a political niche for himself amongst his peer through creativity and hardwork, was born on 15th October, 1964 at Agbara Ekureku in Abi Local Government Area.
He attended Primary School, Egboronyi in Abi Local Government Area and later proceeded to Agbo Comprehensive Secondary School, where he was from 1975-1980/1982 before enrolling at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Ogoja for his Higher School Certificate.
Chief Egbona's quest for knowledge & Academic Excellence took him to the University of Port Harcourt where he graduated with B. Sc. Ed. (Hons) Degree in Economics in 1990.
After completing his mandatory National Youth Service in Kaduna State where he taught at the famous Kaduna State Polytechnic, he returned to the State in 1992.
He contested and won election as a Councillor under the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) and made politics a career.
Chief Egbona also contested and was elected into the ill-fated Cross River State House of Assembly in 1998, which inauguration was aborted by the sudden death of the then Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha.
However, his desire for more educational attainment made him obtain a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar in 1996.
He equally holds a Master's Degree in Educational Administration also from the same University.
In February, 2014 he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Educational Administration and Planning with Special interest in Policy Formulation and Implementation.
Chief Alex Egbona was appointed Special Assistant, Special Duties to then Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke as a result of his numerous achievements.
His invaluable contribution and excellent service to the Duke administration earned him a higher appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff and member of the Cross River State Executive Council, a position he held till the end of that administration on May 29, 2007.
After the end of Donald Duke tenure as Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Alex Egbona was appointed Chief of Staff and member of the State Executive Council by His Excellency Sen. Liyel Imoke, where he served till he resigned his appointment in 2014 to take a shot to Represent Abi / Yakkurr Federal Constituency in 2015, where his mandate was robbed by the powers that be.
Aside his political career, he has been very outstanding in whatever responsibility he found himself.
He was the Managing Director of Abi Marketing Company (Abi Mart) and also been a political and economic consultant to eminent politicians and corporate bodies within and outside Cross River State.
Chief is a member of some professional organizations including the Nigeria Institute of Management and Nigeria Chartered Economists.
He is happilly married & blessed with children.
He loves reading, politicking, travelling and making friends.
Chief( Dr) Alex Egbona is also a consummated farmer and a business man who is presently involve in Agro business, where God has used him to create job opportunities for many Cross Riverians & put smiles on their faces.

Chief ( Hon) Dr Alex Egbona is the right man for the job as Member, Abi / Yakkurr Constituency, come 2019.
