The digital Governor of Cross River state, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has approved the release of N45 Million Naira as the state's counterpart funding for the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operation (YESSO), a World Bank Assisted program through the Public Workfare Unit, domiciled in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

As a follow-up activity in order to fast-track the process, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development in Cross River state, comrade Asu Okang behalf of his Excellency the digital Governor of the state, on Thursday 31st May, 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding to engage Payment Service Providers (PSP) for the stipend that will be paid to beneficiaries across the State.
The MoU which was signed in the office of the Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development was between the Public Workfare (PWF) Unit and First City Monument Bank who was selected as the Payment Service Provider after a rigorous selection process, serves as an actual contract agreement and terms of reference for both parties in the payment of the beneficiaries of PWF in the Cross River State.

The Commissioner who addressed pressmen shortly after signing the MoU said the event had indeed kicked started a new phase in the process of engaging the first 5000 youths in the State to be paid the monthly stipends of N7,500, he pointed out that the Youths to be engaged in the scheme were not been given a conventional employment but a Social Support Service, where they will be required to put in a minimum of 2hours of their time, 3 days in a week in several activities and that they will be also be enrolled in a scheme where they will be trained in any special skill of their choice.
He also informed that the Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade is poised to ensure that before the end of the year,10,000 (Ten Thousand) youths would be engaged in the YESSO World Bank supported programme.

Mr. Ime Ette, the FCMB Management representative also told newsmen that for them as a financial institution, they see the programme as a laudable one stating that its a good initiative which in the long run will mob up restive youths from the streets and reduce crime, Mr. Ette also used the opportunity to thank the governor for this gesture believing that God will give him the enablement to do more. Finally, Me Ette reiterated FCMB's commitment to the projects as he expressed happiness for being part of the project that will put smiles on faces
