An APC National Chairmanship hopeful from South Southern Nigerian region of Cross River state, Chief Clement Ebri has allegedly withdrawn from the race.
According to a letter dated 21 June 2018, signed by Dr. Clement Ebri and made available to TDN, the former governor of Cross River state said he was withdrawing from the race for what he termed as the overall interest of the party.
In his letter, APC chieftain adviced other party leaders to tow the path of rancor-free direction as the party approaches the general election.
Dr. Ebri who was grateful to his supporters for believing in his candidacy, further enjoined them to extend the same support and adopt Adams Oshiomhole for the National Chairmanship of the party
Ebr's letter reads in part:
I write to inform you that, following deep consultations with my family, friends, associates party leaders, and other stakeholders in the All Progressive Congress (APC), I have reached the decision to withdraw my candidacy from the race for the National Chairmanship of the APC.
This decision has been taken in what I consider to be the overall interest of the party and my believe that all stakeholders must now in the same rancor-free direction as we approach general elections in the next few months.
