TDN in this report brings you update on its earlier report that 'Udayi allegedly traded his guber ambition for N50m.
As things begins to unfold, the Campaign Organization of Dr. Paul Udayi have issued a press statement debunking our earlier report surrounding his gubernatorial ambition.
In the report which was published by Primetimevoice, Sunday 21st October 2018, Udayi stated that politics which is characterized by interest cannot be separated from defections, and in like manner, as demonstrated by the likes of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who today is the flag bear of the PDP, the sitting Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and several others who have defected forth and back from their various parties, he also exercised his constitutional right in that direction, wondering why his should cause a stir.

He clearly stated that his decision to dive between parties in a very short period of time was a 'landmark decision with a long-term positive effect for the interest of Cross Riverians'.
He however, warned journalist to decease from unbalanced reportage stating that TDN's earlier report was mischievous, insulting and unfortunate, as he has consulted his attorney for directives.

The Press Statement as published by Primetimevoice reads in full:
'We view the allegations of trading our governorship aspiration for 50m naira or so as published by The Daily News Nigeria - TDN as mischievous, insulting and unfortunate.
We must learn to be guided and responsible, in exercising our fundamental human rights and adhere to the ethics of our profession which in this case required balance reporting.
Yes, we left PDP because we were aggrieved and you may also recall that we even approached the court of competent jurisdiction to seek redress, but all of these never made sense to you.
The thought of YPP as an alternative platform to further our aspiration should suggest to you a genuine and honest intention to serve our dear state, but this is what I get.
If after all these and due consultations, we decided to return to our Party PDP in the interest of peace and unity of our dear state and indeed our party, doesn't it show good faith?
Don't also forget that you can't divorce defections from politics as it is characterized by interest.
The likes of our Principal Alhaji Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal et al, left and are all back today, you never saw that, or is it because it's Udayi?
I make bold to say I took a landmark decision with a long-term positive effect for the interest of Cross Riverians.
However, we've approached our Attorneys, who would advice us appropriately and we shall respond accordingly'.

However, the statement did not state in clear terms if the allegations as alleged by our earlier report was falsified, as it should also be noted that TDN in the said report did not claim to have first hand information on the matter but only reported from a source(s) who are ready to speak in due cause.
Notwithstanding, our reporter also in a bit to balance the story informed readers that attempt to reach out to Dr. Udayi was not fruitful and promised to publish Udayi's side of the story should he be reached as the story was still a developing one.
Recall that, it was on public domain that Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State had promised to refund expenses of aspirants when news of issuance of automatic ticket to returning party members went viral in the state.
TDN also learnt that it was based on that fact and other negotiations that refunds/settlements were made to nearly everyone who was disqualified from the guber race.
