About two hours after the deadline for the submission of candidates for the Edo State governorship election 2020, INEC has not officially received any candidate from the opposition party in Edo State, the APC.
The primary that produced the embattled Pastor Ize-Iyamu's is an effort in futility as it was conducted by an illegal faction lead by the disgraced former chairman, Adam Oshiomhole and not Victor Giadom, the official acting chairman at the time of the primaries in Benin.
The newly constituted caretaker committee headed by Governor Mai Mala Buni has no time to organise fresh primaries, living the party in another state of quagmire.
Unless INEC deliberately flouts its own rule by admitting APC's candidate through the backdoor, Edo State APC May be joining the same fortune shared by Rivers and Zamfara in 2019, while Ondo State APC's case may be loading.
