AKWA: The Chairperson Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ ) Anambra State Comrade Frankly Onyekachi has called for professionalism amongst Women Journalist in celebration of the 2021 Press Freedom Day.
Comrade Franklyn Onyekachi who made the call in her Press Release in Awka, commended women Journalists for their dedication to duty and commitment towards ensuring that the public was fed with accurate and timely information on events as they unfold despite the ravaging effects of Corona Virus pandemic which has posed a serious threat in the world.
"Bearing in mind the theme for this year's event, ' Information as a public good', NAWOJ Anambra enjoins all women Journalists in the state to continue to carry out their duties as the watch dogs of the society without fear bearing in mind the ethics of our profession" she said.
According to her, being in an election year in the state, the Association call on its members to eschew fake news and unverified reports so as not to cause
disharmony or chaos.
However, the Chairperson NAWOJ commended Anambra State Government for its continued cooperation with the organization while soliciting for more support.
