The involvement of our youths in the above social vices in the last two years has taken a frightening dimension. All caution has now appeared to be thrown to the winds. In what used to be an exclusive reserve of cities and towns, there is been a sharp twist and sudden change in events in our villages. I read a story here on Facebook a few days ago, how a young man was macheted by a rival cult group in Sankwala. Also, during the last Christmas holiday.
I personally witnessed events that broke my heart. Isn't STRANGE amongst us that young boys of 14-25 now go to beer parlours to smoke and order rounds upon rounds of beer? In my small Village of Amunga there is now an armed robbery gang? is it not baffling?
Our youths now have designated spots and bars where they smoke weed, drink all sought of spirits, drugs such as Viagra, Tramadol now circulate freely even in very interior villages......HOW DID WE GET HERE?
I am not some journalist; I am genuinely concerned as a young man looking for a bearing and having big dreams for the future as an individual and for all our youths.
what happens to our traditional taboos and law systems? who do we blame?
This is yet another wake-up call to
Our Youths
To our Parents
To our traditional rulers
To our Elites and Big brothers
We must do something to nip this trend in the bud.
We are too mouth and nose. Too close and interrelated to allow any crises. Unlike in cities where security agencies are always on hand to quell any fights our Police station is nothing.
We must do something
If we do nothing one day we will look for our youths and villages we won't find them.
