Group visits Orphanage home in celebration of Prince Otu's Birthday

As Cross Riverians across party lines took out time to celebrate the Cross River State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator Prince Bassey Otu who turned 63 yesterday, an APC support group known as 'Sweet Nation' decided to tow a different path by paying an unscheduled visit to the Infant Jesus Motherless Home, Bateba, in Calabar. 


The celebration which was heralded across the state and on social media and beyond, saw the group donating, food items and cash worth thousands of Naira to the home.


The visit which was attended by members of the support groups and other party faithful, our correspondent learnt, was to show their solidarity, Goodwill and support to Senator Prince Bassey Otu, a former lawmaker, and the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) for the gubernatorial election in Cross River State, on the occasion of his  63rd  birthday anniversary.

While thanking God for His grace upon his life and government,   the group promised to always visit the children, and carry them on their shoulders in the overall interest of the ordinary people.

Speaking on behalf of the children, a Reverend Sister who pleaded animosity Said " the children in the orphanage appreciated the kind gestures of the group, in giving them items at a time when we are experiencing a huge economic crisis, but you came and helped us, God will reward all of you abundantly.

"The Lord will continue to honour you because you have come to the orphanage to honour these vulnerable children. We know where men of your calibre celebrate birthdays but for you, this orphanage is where you have chosen to celebrate birthdays…You will live long; heaven will stand by you for standing by these orphans and the vulnerable children in Jesus's name!".


During the visit, Special prayers were also offered to the group, on behalf of Prince Otu, the children prayed for his victory in the 2023 elections. They also pleaded that if victorious, he should continue to keep his promises, by delivering on people-oriented projects as well as consolidating on the gains of democracy.


Speaking exclusive with TDN, shortly after the visit, leader of the group, Acting Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency (SEA), and Chairman of May and Frank Foundation, Architect Eric Akpo said The APC gubernatorial candidate, Prince Otu has a special package for children, the vulnerable and people living with disability, stating that all these will be unveiled when he gets into Government in 2023. 

" He has demonstrated that he is a good man even when he was in the  Senate, he loved people so that is why we choose to celebrate his birthday today with the less privileged children. Akpo said.
