Mr Bassey Obot, the Cross River State businessman who was kidnapped one month ago in Calabar South Local Government Area, has regained his freedom. TDN can authoritatively report.
Although details of his release are still sketchy as at press time, as our reporter could not ascertained where he was released and if any ransom was paid. Efforts made to reach him on telephone were unsuccessful while no family member was available for comments.
But on Monday, a source close to the family, who pleaded animosity said the kidnappers had demanded for Ten Million Naira (N10, 000,00) as ransom.
The source said "Yes I can confirm that he has been released the family paid 10 million as ransom to the kidnappers, he was beaten, and tortured the family is going through so much emotional heartbreak. But he has been released".

Recall that TDN had reported on October 23rd, how on he was kidnapped.
Efforts to get the reactions of The state Police Public Relation officer, proved abortive as she did not respond to WhatsApp messages sent by our Correspondents.
