CALABAR - The Youth Torch Initiative (YoTI) has called on the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to launch a thorough investigation into the recent ordeal of Ms. Comfort Emmanson involving Ibom Air staff.
the call is contained in a statement signed by the Comrade Careen Nkereuwem, project Team Lead of The Youth Torch Initiative. According to the report, Emmanson was left alone on board after all other passengers had disembarked, with only the flight crew present. She alleged that a flight attendant blocked her exit, sparking a heated exchange. A video recording of the incident shows Emmanson pleading to be allowed passage while surrounded solely by airline staff.
YoTI expressed concern that the circumstances raise red flags that must be properly investigated to rule out possible human rights violations, exploitation, or elements of human trafficking.
The group urged NAPTIP to focus its inquiry on:

Crew Member's Actions – Whether the flight attendant's conduct was within the bounds of airline protocol or an abuse of authority.

Possible Exploitation or Trafficking Risks – Whether the nature of the incident suggests an attempt at exploitation or any other unlawful act.
"Young Nigerians and all air travelers deserve to feel safe and protected in every space, including during air travel. This incident should not be swept aside; it requires transparency and accountability," YoTI emphasized.
The group concluded that only a clear and impartial investigation by NAPTIP can restore public confidence and safeguard the rights of citizens.
