ITIGIDI, – The 65th Independence Day celebration in Abi Local Government Area turned into a platform for recognition of visionary leadership, as the Council Chairman, Obol Hon. Egbala Bassey, was celebrated for his commitment to empowering the younger generation.
Speaking during the celebration, the Special Assistant on Inter-Governmental Affairs, Amb. Samuel Ben, described Obol Bassey as a leader who has consistently aligned governance with the aspirations of youths in the area.
According to Amb. Ben, the council boss's policies and initiatives have created avenues for skills development, mentorship, and opportunities that raise the confidence of young people in their own future. "Independence is about freedom and self-reliance, and the chairman has translated this into action by raising independent stars among our youths," he said.
He further stressed that beyond youth development, the chairman has also strengthened ties with sister government agencies, ensuring the LGA benefits from intergovernmental collaborations.
The Independence Day celebration was marked by unity, patriotism, and a renewed sense of hope, with stakeholders and residents commending the council's effort in giving the day a meaningful touch.
