CALABAR – The growing national profile of Amb. David Hakim is boosting the political standing of Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, as fresh alliances continue to emerge around the APC.
Hakim recently led the National Executive Committee of the *Relax, Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria* movement alongside its Director General on a strategic visit to oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, who was unveiled as Patron of the group. In a strong show of support, Eze donated ₦343,767,500, a 30-seater bus, and a luxury Mercedes-Benz to aid the movement’s nationwide mobilisation.
The move comes shortly after Hakim’s appearance at the Lagos Unity Walk, where he shared the stage with top APC leaders including Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat to promote the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called for grassroots support.
At both engagements, Hakim openly backed Governor Otu, urging party members to unite under his leadership in Cross River and across the South-South.
Observers say what stands out is Hakim’s ability to attract high-level support through personal effort. Even without holding a major government office, he has built connections with influential figures like Prince Arthur Eze, Minister of State for Defence His Excellency Dr Bello Mattawale, Rt. Hon James Faleke amongst others.
“This shows that if he is given a bigger platform, he can do even more—bringing in investors, partnerships, and opportunities that can benefit Cross River State,” a party source said.
As the local saying goes, *“when a child washes his hands clean, he can eat with elders.”* Many believe Hakim has proven himself and deserves greater recognition and support.
With his rising influence and growing network, political watchers say his efforts are not only strengthening APC mobilisation but also reinforcing Governor Otu’s position as a key leader in the South-South.
