CALABAR – Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has expressed optimism that June 2026 will usher in new opportunities, breakthroughs, and reasons for celebration for many Nigerians.
In a goodwill message to mark the beginning of the new month, Edu encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and resilient despite the challenges they may have faced in recent months.
The former Cross River State Commissioner for Health noted that every new month presents an opportunity for renewal, growth, and personal transformation.
"A new month is here, and with it comes another opportunity to rise, rebuild, and rediscover the strength within us," she stated.
Reflecting on the difficulties many people have encountered, Edu acknowledged that the journey through the year may not have been easy for some individuals and families. However, she emphasized the importance of gratitude, perseverance, and faith in the face of adversity.
According to her, June serves as a reminder that setbacks are not permanent and that greater opportunities often emerge from life's most difficult seasons.
"If the past months have tested your faith, may this month restore your hope. If you have faced challenges, may June bring you strength. If doors have remained closed, may this be the month new opportunities find their way to you," she said.
Edu further expressed hope that those awaiting breakthroughs would soon experience positive change and fulfillment.
"And if you have been waiting patiently for your breakthrough, may your season of waiting give way to a season of celebration," she added.
She urged Nigerians to approach the month with gratitude, courage, and confidence in a brighter future while praying for peace, favour, and success in their endeavors.
Dr. Betta Edu, a medical doctor and public health specialist, has remained a notable figure in Nigeria's political and public service landscape. She previously served as Commissioner for Health in Cross River State, where she also chaired the state's COVID-19 response efforts. She later emerged as the youngest National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before becoming one of the youngest ministers appointed into the Federal Executive Council in 2023.
As Nigerians begin a new month, her message joins those of other leaders and public figures calling for renewed hope, resilience, and determination amid ongoing economic and social challenges.
