Akpabuyo By-Election: Massive Turnout as APC Takes Campaign to Grassroot

The show of love was massive even as the turn out was impressive as  Honourable Bassey Effiom, The All Progressives Congress flag bearer for the Akpabuyo state Constituency by elections begins his campaign in major communities and wards to canvas for votes and support in the February 26th slated election. 
   

The crowd, the cheers and songs of joy that filled the air made it almost impossible for Hon. Bassey and his team to access the venue of the events as immeasurable number of APC supporters took over Akpabuyo it took hours of frantic efforts for 
Hon Bassey, ro finally get to the venue, as the place was completely outrun by a sea of elated supporters.


Speaking at the campaign, Hon Bassey, thanked the people of Idundu/ Anyaghanse, Atimbo West/Effanga Offiong and Edem Odo/Edet Nsa wards for their steadfastness and demonstration of faith for the APC, he further appreciated Governor Ben Ayade for giving youths the opportunity to express leadership and for making the political terrain accessible for young persons to aspire for various leadership positions in the state.

The former LG lawmaker said he is ready and prepared to bring home to the good people of Akpabuyo the dividends of democracy through legislative activities at the House of Assembly, while urging them not to sell their votes nor be deceived into handing over their voter's card to anyone as their future is more important than the peanuts the get in vote buying. 


According to him
" We have done it before when we where in other political party and we will do it again. I may not be the most qualified, but I have your best interests at heart. A vote for APC is a security for the future, don't be deceived into selling your votes or voter's card, doing that amounts to mortgaging your future for peanuts."


He also promised to be a good representative to them as he will drive home basic amenities, assistance and support if elected into the Cross River State 9th Assembly. 


The State Chairman of APC, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, who was represented by the Party's Secretary, Barr Offiong Mensah, while addressing constituents pleaded with them not to betray the thrust governor Ben Ayade have for them. Stating that the governor had ensured a reasonable number of their children especially Atimbo West/Effanga Offiong Ward are appointees of government as it is now time reciprocate the Governor's magnanimity of who has considered indigenes of the ward for appointments into various positions, including the office of Commissioner.

Mensah, said the best way to go for the people of Akpabuyo is APC as that's the only party that has their best interest. 


On their part, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. (Mrs) Rosemary Archibong, and Chapter Chairman of the party in Akpabuyo, Pastor Henry Ekpenyong, separately called residents of Akpabuyo in the three wards visited to  turn out 100 percent of their votes for the party stating that Hon. Bassey who flies the party's flag is not only a son of the soil but the answer for youth representation and advocacy. 


Also speaking at the event, the DG of the campaign team urged the people to ensure their waking and sleeping thoughts is how to deliver hon. Bassey Ekpo come February 26th. 

"When you wake up in the morning, the first thing you carry is broom not umbrella, when you want to remove cobweb it is broom, please vote APC vote the broom. Umbrella is people deceive people, vote APC so that we can sweep the nation. Vote Hon Bassey, a bonafide member of the town, he is tested reliable and trusted". He said. 

Also at the event was the chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government council, state House members, Senior Government Officials as well as people from across all works of life.

C'river born Odidi bags another int'l appointment alongside Obasanjo

An Atlanta based Cross Riverian and International Development Consultant, Mr. Princewill Odidi has bagged an international appointment to serve as a member of the Infrastructure Development Finance for Africa, IDFA board. 



The nomination and subsequent swearing in of the board took place over the weekend in faraway Dubai with Former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo emerging as Grand Patron of the Fund while the President of Mauritius is the First Chair Person of IDFA and the former President of 
Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib Fakim emerged as Board Chairman.


The IDFA is an international fund on Infrastructure Development designed specifically for Africa and supported by NEPAD, Africa Union, World Bank, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development IBRD and other global infrastructure financial instruments such as the G20 Infrastructure fund for Africa.

The composition of the fund draws some of Africa's finest in Development Economic to help shape the future of infrastructure development in Africa, with its secretariat located in Mauritius.


The IDFA 2018, came to a close yesterday with the likes of Jacob Saffa, the Finance Minister Ghana, Dr John Tambi, Finance Minister Sierra Leone, Davis Laporte, Central Bank Governor Seychelles, Dele Momodu, Ovation Nigeria, Yale Akin, Chiarman Nicon Insurance, Charles Egbu, London South Bank, including President Obasanjo among others.

The Cross River born lodestar State  believes the newly sworn-in team can indeed join forces to build a new Africa.
