The embattled Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Okoi Obono-Obla has come out to debunk the news that went viral that he has been sacked as chairman of the panel.
According to an Abuja based Journalist, Emmanuel Obgeche, "Obono-Obla Says Only President Can Sack Me: "I have not been removed ! There is no letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation removing me from office ! Since I was appointed by the President it is only he that can remove me ! The story is false !"
In a related development, chief Obla has issued a press statement concerning his purported removal from office where he acknowledged, the received of a letter from the office of the AGF as regards "some procedural issues" but quickly added that he is preparing an appropriate answer to the letter.
In his press statement, the embattled chairman said he is yet to receive a letter of his removal from the president and as such he is still in office. He further advised that the letter purporting his removal from office should be disregarded.

Tention of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property has been drawn to a purported news in the media that the Chairman of the Panel, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has been removed.
While there is a letter from the Attorney-General oe Federation and Minister for Justice, based on a purported letter from the Office of the Vice President to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice drawing attention to certain procedural issues, and which an appropriate response is been prepared, there is no iota of truth in the purported removal of the Chairman of the Panel
For the avoidance of doubt, there is no such directives from the Presidency to the Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property relieving him of his office and the information purportedly removing the Chairman should be disregard.
