Obong, Godswill Akpabio, immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom state and current Minister of Niger Delta Affairs has disclosed to the House of Representatives committee set up to probe the Niger Delta Development Commission,NDDC over alleged fraud, mismanagement of funds, among others.
Speaking, before the committee investigating the Commission, Akpabio linked contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to members of the National Assembly, saying that majority of the contracts awarded were handled by the lawmakers.
In Akpabio's Words: "Most of the contracts at NDDC are handled by members of the National Assembly."
Meanwhile, there was drama today as the committee grilled the Acting Managing Director of the Commision, Mr. Daniel Pondei who suddenly slowly collapsed on his seat after being grilled for over an hour.
At this sight several persons around rushed to his rescue, propping him up in an attempt to stabilise him, these off course halted proceedings of the committee.
The fainted MD later appeared to be in a seizure, while a man was seen holding his mouth, as soon as he appeared to have regained himself, he was immediately rushed out, perhaps for medical attention.
That was how the seasion ended apruptly for a 30 minutes recess when the deputy chairman of the committee called for adjournment.
