NUJ urge citizens to support Nigeria Police as New Zonal command kicks off

The Nigerian Union of Journalist has called on Nigerians to rally support for Nigerian Police force in order to help them carry out their duty effectively.
Mr. Emmanuel Ifesinachi, Chairman of Anambra state chapter of NUJ, made this known during the opening ceremony of the New Police Zonal command known as "Zone 13" in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra.
According to the Chairman, the choice of locating the zone in the 13th Zonal Command in Ukpo to cover Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states is a noble one as it has brought law enforcement agency closer to the people. He therefore urged the people of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi to rally round the police force and ensure they discharge their duties to the people of the zone.
Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu said the new zonal command was an addition to buttress the existing security in the South East geopolitical zone.
Adamu who was represented by DIG Celestine Okoye said
He noted that though there were contestations about the supposed location of the zonal command but explained that Ukpo met every requirement as it was within the state capital territory.
DIG Okoye further stated that the cry of Nsugbe Community in Anambra East LGA for functional mopol base has been approved by the IGP while urging them to prepare the ground for the police to move in as soon as possible.
Also, in his remarks, the new AIG of police zone 13 Ukpo, AIG Mohammed Danmallam thanked the IGP for appointing him to head the zone and promised to discharge his duties for greater peace and security in the states under the zonal command.
In his appreciation, Engr. Gibson Okeke on behalf of Ukpo Patriots thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the re-organisation of police force in tandem with one of his agendum for enhanced security in the state.
He also thanked Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his unparalleled effort in providing an enabling environment for the force in the state.
Dignitaries present at the formal handing over of the zone were ; Commissioners of police in Anambra, Enugu Ebonyi, Engr. Arthur Ikpechukwu Eze, Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia VI) , Clergy Men, Royal father's Women groups among others.
