The president of African students in the Baltic, Mr. Daniel Ita has called on African leaders and their Ministries of Education to as a matter of importance ensure measures are taken that will drive in a smooth and safe process as they think of reopening schools.
Mr. Ita who expressed his thoughts on his personal Twitter handle calling it his personal thoughts rolled out measures African leaders should follow for an effective reopening of schools.
In his thoughts, the Cross River born student leader said any head of school who flouts these measures should be dismised from service outrightly.
The following are steps suggested by the African student leader;
1) Various ministries of Education should setup tasks force to coordinate and ensure a setting up of safety protocols in schools
2) Schools should run 2 sessions or more per day (depending on the population)
3) it is pertinent that siblings attend same session
4) Maximum teaching period should be 3 hours per day without break and the next session should commence about one and half hour in-between
5) At the end of each session, cleaners MUST disinfect the class rooms ahead of the next session
6) Teachers MUST put on face mask
7) class sitting patterns MUST be rearranged to accommodate spacing
8) NCDC guidelines (Washing of hand before entering the school premises) MUST BE adhered to
9) Any school which flout safety directives MUST be sanctioned and the HEAD of the school should be dismissed from service .
