The Chairman, Ben Akak's Foundation, and former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ben Akak have dispell rumours of his defection to other parties as its governorship candidate, stating that he is not desperate to be governor.
Akak disclosed on Sunday in his Calabar residence while addressing over 500 leaders of his support groups. He said his aspiration to become governor of Cross River State was born out of the willingness to serve, and not on the idea of desperations as insinuated in some quarters. He, therefore, reaffirmed his commitment and support for the party while calling on all his supporters to join hands with him towards ensuring Victory for Prince Bassey Otu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
The renowned Philanthropist noted that his love for the state, and not selfish and private gains were his motivating factors while he offered himself for service, stating that the vision for a new and better Cross River State is still strong and remains a top priority to him.
"My passion for the people of Cross River State remains a top priority, we came to serve, and not to be served I was not a desperate politician, they said Politicians are desperate, but I was not desperate to become the governor.
He added that he might not be satisfied with all the decisions and actions of the party, but as a party man, he will still abide by them and work towards the victory of the party. And he is not the type of politician who uses and dump people, but plays politics with decency and sincerity.
"I abided and submitted, to the will of the party, our course was not to use and dump people but to remain a United force in playing politics with decency and truthfulness."
He also used to opportunity to clear the air that contrary to speculations, he wants to defect to another party and that such information should be disregarded.
According to him.
"So many persons write a lot of things on social media, when the party took the decision that I should no longer run but wait, a supporter called me and ask sir, what is the direction?.
" I quickly turn off the phone, I am not a politician who is not loyal, loyality is my watch word, we stand by our words, we loose today to gain tomorrow I say things and I do them, if I wanted to defect to another political party, it would have been announced, and not cutting through the back doors.
" I still remain in the All Progressive Congress the APC." He said .
