Court Remands Pastor Over Alleged Rape Of 3 Siblings

An Ilorin Magistrate's Court has ordered one Pastor Makanjula Olabisi Lanre to be remanded in correctional custody for allegedly having carnal knowledge of three biological sisters.

The police First Information Report (FIR) stated that the accused had preached to the
girls to be attending his church, Revolutionary Insight Church located at Agba Dam, Ilorin sometime in 2018.

The FIR added that the pastor laid his hand on the eldest sister for prayers after she
declined his proposal to be his lover and eventually raped her and her two siblings. When the complainants discovered that the pastor had been taking advantage of them, they stopped going to the church and the pastor's house, a development that made Pastor Lanre threaten that calamity would befall them, the police report stated.

The prosecutor, Matthew Ologbosaye, informed the court of the motion exparte attached to the charges preferred against
the accused and prayed the court to remand him pending the outcome of the legal advice
for on the matter. Magistrate Fatimah Salihu
ruled that her court lacked the jurisdiction to take the pastor's plea and ordered that he should be remanded at the correctional
centre in Mandala, near Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. She adjourned the case to September 14, 2022 for mention.
