The importance of electricity in any economy can not be overemphasized, hence, the need of addressing the challenges of electricity is considered sacrosanct.
For the people of Akpabuyo notably, Eneyo and Nakanda Wards respectively, six (6) years down the line without electricity has done a period of great economic teeth gnashing as businesses were not only paralyzed but closed down for good.
Their persistence yielded positive results when they wrote to Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo lamenting their anguish. Chief Asuquo not only called for an inspection in the affected area but also mobilized the contractor to commence work in earnest.
Addressing newsmen, Rev. Joshua Eyo-Edem said that though the entirety of Akpabuyo was affected after persistent cries to the various leaders who directly represent them without success when we wrote to Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo responded and sent in the team for inspection and execution of the job. We must commend him for his proactiveness and take-charge approach, this is the kind of leadership we all desire to have.
Engr. Emmanuel Ntiero corroborated the position of Rev. Eyo Edem but further stated that the areas affected are the economic hub of Akpabuyo hence restoration of the light will boast business and revive the ones that were crippled before now. He further stated that having known Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo for some time now, as one man who keeps to his words, he is certain that electricity will be restored in the affected areas within a week.
He however decried the atrocious and clear case of vandalism evidence within the Akpab - Ikang axis where electric cables removed by agents of the Power Holding Company cannot be seen anywhere. When the cables fall, they will come and remove them in the name of clearing them away from the road and that will be the end. No one knows where the cables are taken to or where the cables are kept, we cannot continue like this.
He used the opportunity to thank the lawmaker for responding promptly to their predicaments and mobilizing immediately for work to commence.
