Armed robbers on Saturday morning, attacked the female Hostel hall 1, of the Cross River State University (UNICROSS), carting away valuables.
The invasion of the hostel, UNICROSS Press gathered, occurred at about 12 am by some middle aged men.
During the operations which lasted for several hours, the thieves made away with student's phones, laptops, cooking utensils and other valuables.
After the operation, the robbers used the manhole of the hostel as an exit route .
Some of the students who spoke under the condition of animosity told our correspondent on Saturday that they were traumatised by the early morning invasion, which according to them had disrupted their sleep.
"I am traumatised honestly, this hostel is not safe anymore, they just robbed us a few days back and shot guns, today again this is too much.
"We deserve to be protected, this is too much they robbed us and we don't know what to do. Please tell the school authority through your information since they listen to you guys to help us protect this hostel".
Addressing the students, One of the security officers said " In a scenario like this you shouldn't raise an alarm to cause noise as this could cause chaos and help the thief escape instead, you should come out quietly to check around as hostellers to see if the culprit is hiding somewhere.
TDN gathered that this is the second time in less than one month, students of the institution will be experiencing such attacks. About two weeks back, it was reported that gunshots were heard allover the hostels while students complained of being robbed of phones and other valuables.
When Contacted to discuss the various levels of security breaches, the University Chief Security Officer (CSO), Iwara did not respond to WhatsApp messages, as well as calls from our Correspondents.
