CALABAR – In a bid to alleviate financial burdens on families and promote access to quality education, Rt. Hon. Davies Etta, Deputy Leader of the Cross River State House of Assembly, has paid school fees for pupils Unity primary school and Government primary school 1 in Ebom, Abi Local Government Area. During a recent tour of government-owned primary schools in Abi, Rt. Hon. Etta witnessed firsthand the challenges facing public education in the area, including inadequate learning conditions and limited resources. Etta pledged his commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to improve educational infrastructure and learning environments within the LGA.
"Our children are our future, and providing them with the opportunity to learn is essential," said Rt. Hon. Etta. "This initiative is about supporting families and reinforcing our commitment to fostering a brighter future for Abi through education."
The lawmaker who represents Abi State constituency in the Hallowed Chambers of the 10th Assembly, expressed his readiness to collaborate with government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as non-governmental organizations, to develop sustainable solutions for the educational sector. He emphasized that these partnerships would be vital to achieving long-term improvements in the quality of teaching and learning in Abi.
In line with the People First agenda championed by Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Rt. Hon. Etta emphasized the state's commitment to education, noting that the 2025 Sustainable Development Budget allocates over 16% of its funding to the sector. He expressed optimism that Abi would benefit significantly from these state-level investments, with legislators advocating for the area's inclusion in key educational projects.
