CALABAR – The Cross River State Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Rt. Hon. Chief Orok Duke, has called on Nigerians to unite against forces threatening the country's peace and stability, as Muslims across the nation celebrate the 2026 Eid-al-Fitr.
In a goodwill message to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Duke extended warm felicitations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Muslim Ummah, urging citizens to embrace peace, tolerance, and collective responsibility for nation-building.
He emphasized that the significance of Eid-al-Fitr goes beyond celebration, describing it as a solemn moment for reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to the ideals of peaceful coexistence.
"This celebration is not only significant for the Muslim faithful but also a critical moment that calls for collective action against forces that threaten our common existence as a nation," Duke stated.
The NDDC board member stressed that Islam is a religion of peace and urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to uphold values that promote harmony and national integration.
Duke further called on citizens to use the festive period to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the country, as well as for the success of the current administration. He noted that national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding.
Highlighting ongoing development efforts, he commended the administration of President Tinubu, noting that initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda are gradually transforming livelihoods, particularly through critical infrastructure projects in the Niger Delta region.
He concluded by urging all Nigerians to remain steadfast in promoting unity, adding that collective efforts toward peace and stability remain the surest path to sustainable development.
