CALABAR – The Cross River State Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has endorsed the outcome of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state, while urging candidates who emerged victorious to sustain issue-based campaigns and prioritize the welfare of the people.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its Chairman, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, and Secretary, Dr. Julius Ochim Okputu, the Forum congratulated candidates who secured tickets for the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, and Governorship positions.
The Forum described the APC primaries as largely peaceful, transparent, and consultative, noting that the process reflected democratic principles and strengthened internal party cohesion.
According to the statement, the successful conduct of the exercise further reinforces Cross River State’s reputation as one of the politically stable states in Nigeria while demonstrating increasing democratic maturity within the ruling party.
CRSCF commended the leadership of the APC in Cross River State under Hon. Chris Sunny Etta for overseeing what it termed a credible primary process.
The group also praised Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu for his leadership style and commitment to party unity, which it said continues to serve as a stabilizing force within the APC and the broader political environment in the state.
The Forum maintained that the emergence of the candidates presents an opportunity to consolidate democratic gains, ensure continuity in governance, and accelerate development across Cross River.
It urged all aspirants, party faithful, and stakeholders to accept the outcome of the primaries in the spirit of sportsmanship and collective responsibility, emphasizing that the ultimate goal should be the progress and sustainable development of the state.
“Candidates who emerged from the exercise should sustain issue-based engagement, maintain close ties with the grassroots, and prioritize policies and programmes that directly impact the welfare of the people,” the statement noted.
CRSCF also acknowledged the contributions of aspirants who did not emerge victorious, stating that their participation enriched the democratic process and strengthened internal democracy within the party.
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to policy advocacy, constructive engagement, and support for initiatives capable of advancing economic, political, and social development in Cross River State and Nigeria.
