CALABAR – Renowned media entrepreneur, veteran filmmaker and cultural ambassador, Fidelis Duker, has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency.

Duker signaled his entry into the race after picking up his Expression of Interest (EOI) form under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), positioning himself as a contender in the constituency’s political landscape ahead of the elections.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination documents, Duker said his decision to seek elective office was driven by the desire to deploy his global experience, corporate leadership skills and international network toward promoting sustainable development, youth empowerment and infrastructure growth in the constituency.

According to him, the constituency possesses enormous potential but requires strategic representation capable of attracting investment and creating opportunities for young people.

Duker is widely known for his contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry. As founder of the Abuja International Film Festival, regarded as one of West Africa’s longest-running film festivals, he has represented African storytelling on global platforms, including engagements at international film and media events.

He also serves as Regional Secretary General of the Federation of Pan African Filmmakers (FEPACI) and is the Chief Executive Officer of FAD Media Productions, owners of FAD 93.1 FM Calabar, FAD FM 101.3 Abuja and FAD 360 TV.

His campaign agenda is expected to focus on youth development, technology-driven initiatives, attracting foreign investment and promoting transparency in constituency projects.

Supporters have described his candidacy as a fresh perspective that combines private sector experience with public service aspirations, while political observers say his entrance adds a new dimension to the contest for the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency seat.
