CALABAR – The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has secured a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cyprus International University (CIU) aimed at strengthening academic exchange, research collaboration, and international opportunities for students and staff.
The agreement was facilitated by the Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Professor Francisca Bassey, during a visit to Cyprus International University in April 2026 as part of efforts to expand the institution’s global partnerships.
The collaboration is expected to create opportunities for student exchange programmes, joint supervision of postgraduate research, dual-degree pathways, and knowledge sharing between both institutions.
During the visit, Professor Bassey held discussions with the leadership of Cyprus International University on areas of mutual interest, including research, innovation, accreditation processes, and improving global university rankings.
She also toured several facilities showcasing advanced technology, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy systems, and engineering innovations, identifying potential areas for future collaboration.
Speaking with Nigerian students studying in Turkey, Professor Bassey encouraged Africans in the diaspora to use their knowledge and international exposure to contribute to the development of the continent.
The partnership reflects UNICROSS’s commitment to internationalisation and its drive to provide students and researchers with broader academic and global opportunities.
