The labour party legislative candidate for Calabar Municipality, Hon. Edim Okon also known as Most wanted has said if given the chance to legislate on the floor of Cross River State House of Assembly, he will reduce the high coat of living in calabar through legislation.
The Creative Artist-turn-politician, who reveled this over the week in a media chat said that he is fully prepared to hit the ground running as his people oriented legislative vision stating that Calabar is a commercial and industrial hub where cost of living should naturally be low, but the reverse is the case.
Using Sachet water as a case study, he said in Calabar, sachet water is sold for N25 or N50 for 3 sachets compared to other cities and states where the same product for for N10.
He lamenting a situation where the legislators are dossal over the situation when it is under their purview to regulate market price through legislation. He said his priority will be to introduce legislative policies that will control and regulate prices of goods and services withing the metropolis.
Edim Okon who is also a creative artist revealed that why he never won in his previous outings of 2015 and 2019 was because of the poor electoral system. But today with the strengthening of the electoral acts, the dynamics of elections have changed and this will give him an edge in the field and ballot. Having participated in the race in 2015 and 2019, he has gathered more experience and followers as the electorates now believe in his campaign mantra. With all these he believes he will be victorious at the polls.
On Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of his party, Okon believes Obi is the Moses of this dispensation, he said just like Moses was sent to Egypt by God to understand the ways and acts of the Egyptians as it will be relevant for the assignment of delivering the children of Israel, in like manner Obi's previous affiliation with the major political parties perceived to be corrupt was ocastared by God to prepare him for the job of delivering Nigeria from their claws.
"I have also seen Peter Obi as a divine opportunity, his emergence as the Party's candidate is divine for Nigerians. He is the moses of our time." He said.
"Many people have said that Obi will be like the rest because he has been in the major parties line PDP and others, so he may likely act like them."
"I keep tell them despite he has been in PDP and other parties believed to have been part of the destruction of the country. You know Moses was born in Egypt and God kept him there to learn and master the art of stealing and destruction by pharaoh. God kept him there to know how to take the children is Israel out of Egypt. It takes someone who have been there to learn how to do it."
"So Peter Obi knows how PDP and APC had destroyed this nation, now he is out to save the nation. It will only take a man who have been there to clean Nigerian."
He averred that Peter Obi will certainly win as his followers are organic and the new financial policies of the Central Bank of Nigeria will go a long way in eradicating vote buying which he said will give his Principal an edge at the polls.
